Ryan-Biggs Participates in Capital Region CANstruction
April 3 2012
Ryan-Biggs (aka Team Hungry Feet) completed our canstructure for the 2nd Annual Capital Region Canstruction Competition. The canstructure is made from nearly 3,000 cans. There is still time to vote for the People's Choice award. Bring a canned good to the NYS Museum before April 25 to vote for your favorite!
CANSTRUCTION UPDATE: Ryan-Biggs' Canstructure "HUNGRY FEET" was awarded this year's COMMUNITY CHOICE AWARD! To watch a video of the build, please click here.
It starts with one can. To feed the hungry. To lift the spirit. To change the world. The Society for Design Adminsitration founded Canstruction based on the concept that one can of food may change someone's life and one single person can make a difference. Canstruction is a design- build competition that gathers canned food donations for community food banks. Teams design and create structures made completely out of canned goods.
Teams are comprised of representatives from local architecture, engineering, and construction firms. The beneficiary of our efforts will be The Food Pantries, a coalition of 54 local food pantries working together to feed the hungry and serving over 2 million meals to local families. The goal of Canstruction is to ensure that number increases, along with public awareness of the worldwide fight against hunger. Since its founding, over 17.5 million pounds of food has been donated worldwide through this competition.
We are grateful to the sponsors who joined hands with us to fight hunger.
